With the economy in crisis and unemployment on the increase, 1st time buyers are finding it virtually impossible to step onto the housing ladder. Current competitive mortgages are non existent especially for 1st time buyers. Long gone are the days of 99% mortgages or even 'cash back' mortgages, every current mortgage on the market requires a substantial deposit which the majority of 1st time buyers cannot afford.

1st time buyers are facing a very frustrating time whether they are youngsters wanting their own independence away from home or a couple wanting to start a life together. Both of these scenarios are exciting times for the people involved but at present mortgages are not accessible for many people.

There are 2 main options that people choose to overcome this issue:

Private renting:

This is a good option if you have a secure job and can afford the monthly rentals, although you could see it as a waste of money every month thrown at something that is not yours.

The second option would be static caravans, which could be situated within the grounds of a household.

This option can be great in many ways:

Firstly every household is allowed one static caravan as over spill accommodation. If you are not familiar with static caravans they have exactly the same interiors/facilities as residential dwellings if not sometimes better. The new static caravans are extremely modern and equipped with plasma televisions, granite style work tops and ensuite's. All static caravans have a fully fitted kitchen with all mod cons i.e. gas cooker, ample cupboard space and fridge/freezers. The lounge areas are either fixed seating or 3 piece suites. You can either have a 2 bedroom or a 3 bedroom version. Each static caravan will have a shower room with toilet and sink. Some models will have a full sized bath, double glazing and central heating just like household systems, if these are required. Basically static caravans are mini flats in themselves.

You can purchase a fully functional/liveable static caravan from around £1000 which makes them great value for money. Prices can exceed £50,000 plus for the top of the range brand new models.

The next great advantage of static caravans is that they can be re-sold on once their use has come to an end. This will give you some money back from the initial purchase of the static caravan unlike renting from which you will never recover any costs.
